Something Extra
The National Occupational Standards in Management and Leadership are built on the input of thousands of managers and leaders, and are used by hundreds of thousands of managers each year in qualifications, training and through MSC’s existing publications.
To take the standards even further, MSC is embarking on a new venture which aims to capture the knowledge and experience of managers from around the world. We want input from experts, managers and leaders from the business world, academia and international organisations, in the form of case studies, papers, ideas and debate.
Thanks to the successes of MSC and the National Occupational Standards, the MSC website is viewed by tens of thousands of people each year, meaning it’s a great place to get your ideas heard and to help promote better management and leadership practice to a global audience!
Where to Start…
As a starting point, MSC wish to receive your input in the following areas:
1. Case Studies - How has your business or organisation succeeded through good management or leadership? How has your business or organisation failed through bad management or leadership?
2. Management Techniques - What techniques have you found to be effective in managing your organisation?
3. White papers – Provide other managers with suggestions, guidance or just something to think about through a white paper or discussion piece. NOTE – we are not looking for sales pitches or corporate marketing; we wish to provoke thinking, debate and better management and leadership only!
4. Biographies - who do you think are the best and worst leaders and managers from history, or the best and worst management decisions from history?
5. Best Practice Guides – Information on how common management and leadership problems can be solved.
Submitting your knowledge to the project gives tens of thousands of other managers access to practical information which can really help them improve their organisations’ performance. It also provides you with an audience for your ideas or thoughts, particularly when submitting white papers or working papers, which are likely to be read by thousands of active managers across the UK and rest of the world.
If the idea of helping thousands of other managers and leaders isn’t enough, the best submission each month will also win a free copy of MSC’s National Occupational Standards book or toolkit!
To get you started, the sub-pages to the left provide examples of what we’re looking for, as well as the first submissions provided by other readers. Have a look at the papers, case studies and techniques provided on the relevant pages and think about how they might be used in your organisation to drive up performance.
For more details of how to get involved, please see the information on each sub-page.
