		The complete set of National Occupational Standards for Management and Leadership are listed below. You can download individual units by clicking on the unit title, or whole chapters by clicking on the chapter titles.
		The standards are proven benchmarks of best practice and have been developed based on extensive consultation with genuine managers doing real management jobs. They offer a practical resource to aid decisions in everything from day-to-day matters like recruitment and selection to long-term issues such as the recognition and development of future leaders.
		This revised set of standards, released in November 2008, builds on the 2004 suite with the addition of new units covering fresh areas such as knowledge management, environmental management and quality assurance. The standards are both clear and accessible while still providing enough detail to be robust and measureable.

		If you are unsure of whether you need a license or not, you can contact MSC to discuss licensing issues via telephone on 020 7240 2826, or via e-mail at management.standards@managers.org.uk.

						We work with a growing number of sector skills councils who are opting to import our standards rather than developing their own in their sector-specific qualifications. This reinforces the demand for portability from managers and the quality assurance that employers are seeking. Dr Kion Ahadi, Head of MSC.

		Management and Leadership competencies are crucial to all sectors and occupations within the UK economy. In financial year 2005/2006 SSCs and SSBs imported the generic management units into their own suites of NOS on 66 occasions. For the year 2006/2007 the MSC approved 382 importations!
		The top three most popular imported units were;
		1. Unit A2 –Manage your own resources and professional development (22 imports); 2. Unit B6 – Provide leadership in your area of responsibility (20 imports); 3. Unit D6 – Allocate and monitor the progress and quality of work in your area of responsibility (16 imports).
